Jake Barr has been a lover of the bass guitar for close to 20 years now. His diversity in musical influence and experience spreads across the board. Hes had the privilege of playing with some of the finest musical talents in the Inland Northwest.

Throughout his youth, Jake played music with his musical family and friends. As a teenager, he played bass and drums in church and studied the bass guitar under two of Spokanes best electric bassists: Eddie Ramirez and Dale Lewis. In his 20s, he expanded his boundaries, influences, and experiences by moving to Seattle. While living in Seattle for 4 years, Jake developed as a session bassist, working with William Ready (Acoustic Chambers) and Leif Bjorke (King Olaf). During that time, Jake also played with the Seattle Indie Rock band Daytime Hero for over 3 years. During his time with the group, he recorded two albums, toured the nation twice, and played over 100 live shows.

In the last two years, Jake has been found playing with Don and Nancy Emerson, Steve Starkey, Dan Conrad, Rough Congress, and Ancient Greece Monkey!

Over the last 12 years, Jake has fallen in love with teaching the bass! He believes sharing his knowledge with others is a great privilege. He is a fan of all musical genres, and believes each one has a story to tell. Jake especially enjoys all kinds of Rock, Funk, R&B, Country, Jazz/Fusion, Reggae, Folk and 80s Pop! Having been a full-time bass player/teacher for over a year now, Jake is excited to be one of the new instructors at Learn To Burn School of Music!
